The figure asked rose to its full height and regarded her with startlingly intelligent eyes. Although this wasnt very tall Shirley still backed away in a mix of fear and shock. It had two heads and both were female, but they looked very young. No older than twelve for sure. Both heads had silky, white hair. Their eye colors were different though, green for the left head and blue for the right. Shirley jumped when the left head talked, "Who are you? Not often we get many visitors, you know, being in a desert wasteland and all." Still confused Shirley managed to answer them, My name is Shirley Pride and Ive only been here for 20 minutes," she said slowly, "Im kind of hopelessly lost and I need to get back to my world so I can find someone. Can you help me? The siamese twins looked at each other and then back at Shirley, First time? Shirley shook her head. An eager growl escaped the right heads mouth taking Shirley aback. " Wait here," it said. Smiling they scrambled up the tree. Four minutes later they climbed down slowly carrying a medium-sized trunk. They took what looked liked like a Geiger counter and waved it over her. It went off with a loud beep. In the middle?! A half-breed
Yeah, well help you. the the right head said in very interested tone. Shirley wondered what had happened. Why were they so interested now? Whats happening? Whats a half-breed?! she thought. With a frustrated sigh Shirley sank to the ground. They had seen this look before on many newcomers before. All had perished within a week. "We have to help this one Jack. Shell die if we dont..." the left head said, " Yeah I know Kana... Lets get the helmet." They opened the trunk and rummaged through it till they found what they were looking for. It had the appearance a green metal army helmet with several strange pillars attached to its top. Wires ran from the ends of each pillar back into a small computer. Shirley stared in wonder, Whats that? Smiling and pressing buttons on the keyboard the twins looked up and answered, Its the fastest way to learn anything you need to. Its called the Helmet Of Knowledge (we know it's a stupid name) and it will upload anything you need to know into your brain from a large database of information. It only works for information we've entered oursleves so, you know, stuff like other planets is off limits. For Shirley it was time to think. There were two... was one... was a strange organism holding something with wires poking out of it saying to put it on her head. Grabbing her head in thought she bent over. Shirley was still trying to think when the helmet slipped onto her head. Barely able to understand them over the whirring of the helmet Shirley heard the twins talking, If you see bright flashes it only means that information is being uploaded into your brain. They can be a little
startling. White flashes? Just as the twins had said there was a bright flash and a computerized voice started playing. ~ Current Location: Vex.
